Doner kebab

Originally coming from the region we now call Turkey, doner meat is cooked on a rotisserie and then cut into wafer thin slices. It is usually then served in a pitta bread with sauce and salad, but can also be used as a pizza topping, or served with chips. Doner kebab gets its name from “donmek”, which is Turkish for “to turn” and “kebab” which means “small pieces of cooked meat”. Not to be confused with the shish kebab, which is meat cooked on a skewer.
